Back pain can be from neck , thoracic and lower back but mainly lower back is the most affected area.Understanding the reason behind the pain usually plays a crucial role in treating the pain. If it lasts from 6-10 weeks is called acute and if the pain lasts more than that it is called chronic.

Ayurveda describes Back pain as Kati Sula. Even though vata is considered as main dosha involved in causing pain depending on the point of origin, dhatuvus(bodily tissues) involvement and external factors, other 2 doshas i.e symptoms can vary accordingly.
