7 common uses of Turmeric


Turmeric a common kitchen spice found in almost every kitchen in Asian countries like India. It is also used as colouring agent, cosmetic purposes and for various other purposes. Turmeric is widely used in Ayurvedic Medicine in treating allergic conditions, Immunity disorders, Liver diseases and Neurologic disorders. It is considered as holy, auspicious and natural healer. COMMON ALLERGIES:

Take a pinch of turmeric and add it to the hot water and use this water for steaming which relieves the cold and cough. Add a pinch of turmeric to Luke warm water along with little salt and use this for gargling twice in a day to get relief from sore throat.

ASTHMA & BRONCHITIS:

Turmeric had affinity towards lungs use it along with holy basil decoction to get relief from asthma and bronchitis. ANTI INFLAMMATORY: Daily consumption of 500 mg of turmeric is found to have anti inflammatory effect on joints and it proved more effective than Ibuprofen!

ANTI CANCEROUS:

Turmeric due to its antioxidant properties is found to be effective in inhibiting the growth and spread of cancer cells in body. Recent researches in rodents suggest that ‘Curcumin’ a factor extracted from Turmeric is able to inhibit colon cancer growth and spread.

GENERAL MALAISE:

Can’t get out of your bed in the morning! Feeling tired after a walk! I have a solution for you try this simple tip. Take a pinch of turmeric with hot milk twice daily; after this you will never complain about it.

BEAUTY:

Turmeric is widely used in many beauty products due to its antiseptic and antibacterial properties. Apply turmeric along with honey for lightening of acne spots, make a paste of turmeric with all purpose flour and apply it on a pimple for quick healing. It has many uses for hair and skin.

Dyspepsia:

Turmeric is found very effective in case of dyspepsia. Add a little amount of turmeric to vegetables before you cook.

ALZHEIMERS DISEASE:

Alzheimers disease is neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive cognitive deterioration together with declining activities of daily living and behavioural changes. Various effects of curcumin like anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant property, improve overall memory in Alzheimer’s patients.

CAUTION: Turmeric is contraindicated in disorders like GERD and in some gallbladder disorders. Use it with caution when you are pregnant.
